431 NEW COVID-19 CASES IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Health Department recorded a total of 431 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative total of infections in the state to 46,791 cases.
Minister Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said two deaths cases were also recorded, one each in Kalabakan and Beluran.
Of the 431 new cases recorded today, 308 cases stemmed from close contact screening, 47 cases from symptomatic screening, and 53 cases from new and existing clusters.
"Three cases were from the screening of hostel students and 20 cases are from other categories," he said in a press statement, here, today.
Masidi said, Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases at 68 cases, followed by Lahad Datu (46 cases), Keningau (34 cases), Tawau (33 cases), Penampang (32 cases), Putatan (28 cases), Beaufort (25 cases), Papar (24 cases), Sandakan (22 cases), Kota Belud (18 cases), Kudat (14 cases), Kota Marudu (13 cases), Tuaran (11 cases), Kinabatangan (10 cases).
"Telupid as nine cases, Sipitang (eight cases), Ranau (seven cases), Semporna, Pitas and Kalabakan each have five cases, Tambunan and Kunak each have four cases, Nabawan (three cases), Kuala Penyu (two cases), Tongod (one case)," he said.
He also added that a total of 393 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the hospital, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 42,406 people.
Currently, 2,794 patients are still receiving treatment, where 847 people are being treated in hospitals, 1,928 people in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Center (PKRC) and 19 others in the Temporary Detention Center / Prisons.
"The number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 87 and 18 people need respiratory aids," he said.
