453 NEW COVID-19 CASES IN SABAH
22 JAN 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a total of 453 new Covid-19 cases today, an increase of 52 cases compared to yesterday, which brings the cumulative total of infections in the state to 45,862. Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun in a statement today said, three death cases were also recorded today - one each in Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Lahad Datu. Of the 453 new cases recorded today, 293 cases were from close contact screening, 71 cases from symptomatic screening, and 49 from new and existing clusters screening. The screening of hostel students and community screening each recorded three cases, while the SOCSO screening recorded one case and the rest were from other categories. Masidi said Tawau district recorded the highest number of cases at 64, followed by Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu each with 52 cases, Kinabatangan (39 cases), Putatan (35 cases), Keningau (31 cases), Kota Belud (27 cases), Sandakan ( 25 cases), Penampang (23 cases), Tuaran (21 cases), Kota Marudu (16 cases), Papar (13 cases), Kunak (11 cases), and Kudat (10 cases). "Ranau and Semporna each had five cases, Beaufort, Nabawan Kuala Penyu and Pitas each had four cases, Tambunan and Tenom also each had two cases, and Kalabakan, Beluran, Sipitang and Tongod each with one case. "Only Telupid district did not record new cases today," he said. He said a total of 650 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the hospital, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 41,579. He said a total of 2,839 patients are still receiving treatment, where 862 patients are being treated in hospitals, 1,958 in the Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Center and 19 in the Temporary Detention Center (PTS) / Prisons. "The number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 81 and 17 people require ventilator support," he said.
