AGENCIES WELCOME COOPERATION FROM NGO, CORPORATE TO CHANNEL AID TO THE NEEDY

PUTRAJAYA: Agencies under the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) welcome cooperation from non-governmental organisations (NGO) and corporate companies to channel assistance to every needy people in the country. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said he intended to expand the distribution of aid because there were those who desperately need it most right now. "We will look at the large scale, we will work with local authorities or state religious councils to ensure the aid is being distributed to the targeted groups,” he told reporters after flagging off the flood convoy of Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) to Kelantan here today.
Zulkifli said the convoy would deliver basic items and foodstuff worth RM1 million to flood victims in the state. He said MAIWP had allocated RM5 million for flood aid to four states namely Johor, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu with each state receiving basic items worth RM1 million and RM250,000 for the affected mosques. Meanwhile, on the Pertubuhan Kasih Umat Malaysia aid programme led by Ebit Lew, Zulkifli welcomed the preacher to work with federal religious agencies to facilitate the coordination of donations. - Bernama
