KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment through the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), is actively investigating complaints from tourists regarding travel guides shared on Xiao Hong Shu (Little Red Book) and allegations of inadequate facilities and services at an island resort.

Its Minister Datuk Christina Liew stated that the CEO of STB, Julinus Jeffery Jimit, informed her that the resort in question has acknowledged the concerns raised by affected tourists.

"We take all feedback seriously and are committed to addressing these issues promptly. I have instructed the CEO to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations to confirm their validity and to resolve the matter quickly. If the allegations are substantiated, appropriate measures, including potential penalties, will be implemented," she said.

"We cannot allow negative experiences for tourists to tarnish Sabah's reputation as an ideal travel destination. We are devoted to upholding Sabah's image and ensuring the highest service standards for every visitor."

She also mentioned that the resort's management is currently investigating the matter and is reaching out to the affected guests to better understand the situation.

"The STB acted swiftly by contacting the island resort as soon as the complaints were received. The management has assured my ministry that they are taking these concerns seriously and have launched an internal review of their service standards," she added.
