AMAL MALAYSIA TARGETS 5,000 BAGS OF BLOOD THROUGH NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGN

MELAKA: Jabatan Amal Malaysia (JAM), a charity organisation is set to collect 5,000 bags of blood through its nationwide Amal Mega Blood Donation (AMBD) 2021 starting from yesterday until Jan 19.
JAM central treasurer, Puhat Bedul said the campaign, organised in collaboration with the National Blood Centre, was held to encourage the public to donate blood and overcome the shortage of blood supply in hospitals. "We have planned this programme before the Movement Control Order (MCO) and proceeded by selecting locations with high number of visitors to facilitate members of the public to donate their blood.
"The campaign was advertised on social media over the past month to enable members of the public to register online," he told reporters when met at the programme here today. He said as of yesterday, the donation drive in Johor, Selangor and Terengganu managed collect about 630 bags of blood. “We were informed that the supply for the O, A and B blood types is critically low and we hope the public will continue to support the blood donation campaign,” he said.
A 12th time blood donor who has been donating blood since 2016, Nicole Tan Nio Hui, 23 said the awareness to donate blood stemmed from her sense of responsibility to save lives. “My mother is my role model as she has been donating blood since young and I hope to be able to continue this good deed,” she said. -Bernama
