KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin today is seen to be pouring oil on flames and rising public anger for being ambiguous in his decision.

Earlier today he announced that the full movement control order (FMCO) that was scheduled to end tomorrow would be extended for another 14 days considering that the nationwide daily Covid-19 caseload has failed to dip below the threshold value of 4,000.

To make matters worse, he disclosed that a more comprehensive form of assistance will only be announced either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Malaysians who were already anxious to learn the last-minute announcement of FMCO extension mounted in dissatisfaction and took to Twitter to express despair over the prime minister's incompetence in handling the crisis as a whole.

Most of them appraised that Muhyiddin does not have the quality to lead with confidence as he doesn't feel the urgency on the current Covid-19 predicament that has yet to see any sign of improvement although Malaysia has been dealing with the pandemic for more than one year.

They questioned whether Muhyiddin cares about the plights of the rakyat, especially when more and more suicide cases reported by the media.

Most recent suicide cases were believed to have resulted from the hardships affected by the movement control order (MCO) where many struggle financially and even mentally.

Some Twitter users in utter disappointment disclosed that they have are running out of money as some of them could generate income throughout the period.

"You (Muhyiddin) are the head of the government. If you're not sure (whether you) can make it on Monday, then fix it on Tuesday. Don't say Monday or Selesa, that's amateur," one of the angry tweets read.

Another one said: "He can't even decide on an announcement date, what more to govern the country under the emergency ordinance or make wise decisions for the country."

Twitter users have been venting over the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government's alleged incompetence using several hashtags such as "Kerajaan Gagal". "Kerajaan Bodoh" and "Kerajaan Zalim" and "Kerajaan Pembunuh".

Today, the "Kerajaan Gagal" hashtag is trending again along with the new "Kerajaan Zalim" hashtag introduced today.

As of 8.30pm today, there were more than 17,000 tweets using both of the hashtags.

Many of the users who tweeted with the hashtags demanded Muhyiddin to step down from the helm.
