ANOTHER RAYA CLUSTER DETECTED IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: Another cluster linked to Hari Raya house visit activities has been recorded in Sabah, known as the Millenium Cluster detected in Tawau.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the cluster emerged following house visit activities during Hari Raya Celebration.

"The index case is a 43-year-old teacher in SMK Kinabutan who tested positive for Covid-19 through symptomatic screening at Tawau Health Clinic on May 23.

"Two days later, a total of 16 of his family members were also found to have contracted the virus," he said in a statement today.

According to Masidi, social contact and workplace screenings also found nine more positive cases, including three close contacts to one of the positive cases who works at the Agro Bank.

"An additional of five positive cases were reported (today), bringing the cumulative total of cases in this cluster to 31.

"Close contact screening and investigation on the cause of infection are still being conducted."
