BARBERS, CAR WASH CENTRES ALLOWED TO OPEN - MASIDI

KOTA KINABALU: Barbers, hair salons and car wash centres in Sabah can will be allowed to open from tomorrow (Feb 5).
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the state government has decided to allow these sectors to operate until 10pm following the announcement made by Senior Defense Minister Ismail Sabri today.
"Only haircuts would be allowed in barbershops and hair salons, while facial-related services are still now allowed.
"Following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for barbershops and hair salons, (workers) must wear face shields, aprons and gloves that are changed after serving each customer, and use appliances that are sterilised with hot water," he said in a statement here, today.
On another matter, Masidi said a total of 63 roadblocks were conducted with 40,456 vehicles inspected within the last 24 hours.
"Of the total, 128 vehicles were told to turn back. One arrest was made and 43 compounds of violating the SOPs were issued.
"A total of 222 inspections were also conducted by the police and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in the East Cost waters, while 73 inspections were conducted in the waters of Kota Kinabalu and Labuan with six arrests made."
