KUALA LUMPUR: The hashtags #BenderaHitam and #Lawan have been trending on social media since yesterday urging Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign.

As of 12 noon yesterday, #Lawan garnered more than 200,000 retweets whereas #BenderaHitam almost at 60,000 retweets on Twitter.

Aside from the two hashtags, netizens also voiced their frustration and dissatisfaction with the legendary #KerajaanGagal hashtag on social media over the government's failure to address Covid-19 despite the imposition of Movement Control Order (MCP) 3.0 over the past month

According to a Twitter user, the #Lawan online protest was the largest ever held, with over 200,000 retweets using the hashtag #Lawan in 24 hours.

He said this was a great blow for Muhyiddin and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government to listen to the voices from the grassroots level.

Many netizens who are exhausted of the failure which they deemed a skylark also advised the prime minister to resign honourably.

Another Twitter user revealed that the #BenderaHitam campaign, which was launched at 3pm yesterday, has three demands, namely the resignation of the prime minister, reconvening of Parliament, and terminating the State of Emergency.

The user added that the campaign of waving a black flag is a sign of catastrophe in the PN government leadership.

The campaign, launched by the People's Solidarity Secretariat Group, aims to protest against the government's snafu in not being able to come up with a thorough plan the resolve the national crisis.
