KOTA KINABALU: The Women's Movement Exco of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) in collaboration with PELITA and the Sabah Thalassemia Association will organise a Blood Donation Programme on March 27 (this Saturday).

Organising Chairperson Felimina Andreas said the programme will be held at the foyer of Buhavan Square in Penampang from 8am to 5pm.

"All are welcome to participate in this programme aimed to help fill the hospital's blood bank which is currently facing a shortage of blood supply.

"We are only targeting 100 donors on the day. Each donor will receive 5kg of rice as a consolation," she said in a press statement here, today.

Felimena also hoped that the programme can raise public awareness on the importance of donating blood that can save the lives of people in need.

"Those who want to donate blood need not worry as the process is imposed in accordance with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) as set by the Ministry of Health (MOH)," she noted.

The UPKO Women's Movement Exco also expressed its gratitude to UPKO Vice President Datuk Ewon Benedick, Sabah Blood Donors Association (PENDARAH) President Alix Sunggin, and other UPKO members for their rice contribution for the campaign.

Apart from the blood drive, the exco also plans to hold he Ati-Ati and Cladium competitions.
