KOTA BELUD: Village churches are usually rustic and small, mostly constructed to accommodate close knitted congregations.

The population of a village isn't static however and thus the church needs to be extended.

For the SIB church in Kg Kebayau however, it's all about having more seats.

Kebayau Village Security and Development Secretary Metol Sabin shared that they needed benches in the church to replace the plastic chairs.

"The plastic chairs will be more fragile with age and we don't want members of our congregation to have unpleasant surprises," he said.

He said the wooden benches measuring six feet are sturdier and will last longer.

"We wish to thank our State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick for donating ten benches to our church," he said adding that they appreciated the donation as it is needed in the church.

He said the church will need expansion in the future as it cannot accommodate the 350 churchgoers during festivities and Christmas.

According to him. Ewon has given them monetary assistance in the past to go towards necessary items.

He shared that a lot more could be done for the Church but believed that it would get done by and by especially with the generous assistance of their Assemblyman.

He thanked Ewon for his contribution to the church, stressing that he is a kind and compassionate man who is well-liked by his constituents.

Ewon is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative.
