CM Hajiji urges Malaysians to fly Jalur Gemilang with pride

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on all Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang with pride and patriotism throughout the month of August.
He said flying the national flag was a symbol of love and loyalty to the country, which had achieved independence and sovereignty through the sacrifices of its people.
"As Malaysians, we must be proud of our country and feel lucky that we are able to be part of a sovereign nation," he said in his which was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, during the launching of National Day month and Flying the Jalur Gemilang campaign on Tuesday.
Hajiji also stressed that peace and harmony enjoyed in this country was a priceless gem that had to be preserved and protected at all costs.
"Therefore we must continue to instill a sense of patriotism and unity amongst ourselves and our children so that the sovereignty of this nation can be preserved forever and that challenges that we may face in future can be addressed together," he added.
Various programmes are expected to be introduced during the National Day month, including the Kembara Merdeka Negaraku organised by the Sabah Informations Department, short video making competition, prayers, and other patriotic activities.
Besides that, Hajiji also reminded the people to continue their support for the current state government so that planned development initiatives could be carried out smoothly for the benefit of all.
"The unity, tolerance, understanding, respect and close ties among Malaysians are very much needed to determine the success or failure of our state's developments," he said.
