In addition to enhancing the village's reputation, Ronnie has been instrumental in advocating for the numerous benefits associated with virgin coconut oil.

“In the future, I aspire to expand my production capabilities significantly, focusing not only on increasing the quantity of goods but also on enhancing the overall quality of our offerings. One might wonder why Ronnie is very passionate about VCO. He has a story to tell about this.

“From 1989 to 2009, I experienced chronic health issues, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, elevated uric acid levels, gout, and gastric problems. In 2009, I was hospitalised, and upon my discharge, a friend recommended that I try VCO.

"He gave me a big bottle of VCO.  After consistently consuming VCO for three months, my health returned to normal and has remained stable ever since. This positive experience motivated me to pursue VCO production.”

He didn’t start big though and he worked very hard to get where he is today. He had eight acres of coconut plantation and this is where he garnered the fruit.

“When we began our venture into VCO production, we secured a loan of RM 5,000 from Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM). Following this initial funding, we received valuable support from various government agencies, including the Sabah Ministry of Rural Development, the Sabah Ministry of Agriculture, and the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development. Their assistance has been instrumental in helping us establish and grow our VCO business.”

Ronnie's brand of VCO is called BONCO Virgin Coconut Oil.

He shares business wise VCO is a good product to be shared and promoted, as it can be a lucrative venture if carried out with tenacity and perseverance.
