COVD-19: SABAH RECORDS 228 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 228 new Covid-19 cases bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 70,457.


In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total cases, 84 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 115 were detected through targeted screening, 13 through symptomatic screening, seven through cluster screening and nine from other categories.


“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases with 120 followed by Beaufort (24), Putatan (19), Tawau (18), Kota Belud (12), Sandakan and Kunak (nine), Papar (six), Kalabakan (three), Kudat, Semporna and Kota Marudu (two), Pitas and Keningau (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Penampang, Lahad Datu, Tuaran, Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Kinabatangan, Ranau, Tenom, Tongod, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran


The number of active cases now stands at 1,769 with 398 treated at hospitals, 1,163 in quarantine centres, and 208 in detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 56 with 17 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 120 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 67,877.
