COVID-19: 153 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH IN SABAH TODAY

KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah has rose again to three digits’ number with 153 recorded bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 58,733.

However, Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said one individual in Tawau has succumbed to the virus today.


He explained that the sharp increase in Covid-19 Sabah cases today was due to the screening of D’Kuala cluster which recorded 43 cases out of 44 cases in Papar district, and the screening of Umas cluster which recorded 33 new cases out of 39 cases in Kalabakan district involving the Felda Umas Housing Complex.

Papar recorded the highest number of cases with 44 cases, followed by Kalabakan with 39 cases, Kinabatangan (19), Kota Kinabalu (17), Semporna (10), and Tawau (nine).

"While Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Putatan each recorded three cases, Kunak and Penampang two cases, Tuaran and Sipitang each with one case.


“Meanwhile, around 14 districts, namely Keningau, Beaufort, Kota Belud, Beluran, Semporna, Tuaran, Putatan, Beluran, Nabawan, Telupid, Kuala Penyu, Ranau, Kudat, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu and Tongod did not recorded new cases today, "he said in a press statement.

Masidi said the number of Covid-19 patients discharged from the hospital today are 112, making the cumulative total of recovery to 57,499 people.

While, a total of 590 patients are still receiving treatment, with 238 people at the hospital and 352 people in the quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Center (PKRC).

"The number of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 31 people with 20 of them ventilated," he said.
