COVID-19: 175 NEW CASES, 519 RECOVERIES RECORDED IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah saw a slight drop in new daily Covid-19 cases with 175 cases compared to 190 reported yesterday, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 49,785.
More daily recoveries were also recorded in the state, with 519 recovered patients discharged from the hospital reported today.
In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the additional number of recoveries brought the tally of recovered patients in Sabah to 46,757.
"A total of 1,907 patients are still receiving treatment with 733 in the hospitals, 1,165 in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres and nine in temporary detention centres or prisons.
"The total number of Covid-19 patients (being treated) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 88 persons and 24 require ventilator support," he said.
A total of 11 districts did not record any new cases today, namely Kota Marudu, Kudat, Kunak, Telupid, Semporna. Pitas, Ranau, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Tongod, and Tambunan.
Meanwhile, Lahad Datu reported the highest number of new cases with 33 cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu (23), Sandakan (21), Penampang (20), Tawau (17), Keningau (15), Putatan (10), Papar (nine), Tuaran (five), Beaufort (five), Kota Belud (four), Kinabatangan (four), Kalabakan (four), Beluran (two), Tenom (two) and Sipitang (one).
"Of the total 175 positive cases recorded today, 125 stemmed from close contact screening, 28 from symptomatic individuals screening, six from existing clusters screening, four from Socso screening, and the rest from various other catogeries," said Masidi.
There was no report of new Covid-19 cluster, however one fatality was recorded in Keningau.
