9 JAN 2021

SEMPORNA: The difficulties faced by about 170 families around Kampung Rahman Inabah Kamal here, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has caught the attention of Syarikat Faiza Sdn Bhd which contributed 529 bags of rice and various foodstuff in order to ease the burden of those affected.

Faiza's manager for Sabah and Sarawak, Abdul Rahman Mohd Shakir said the initiative was done to help bring some cheer to the residents.

"COVID-19 not only affects health but also affects the income of individuals and households," he told reporters after handing over the aid at the Inabah Kamal Complex here.

A total of 200 RELA (People's Volunteer Corps) members who are front-line workers in the area also received the contributions.

He said his team also extended similar contributions to the affected residents in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Kalabakan, with the corporate social responsibility programme to be continued in the future in order to strengthen the relationship between the company and the local community.

Kampung Rahman Inabah Kamal chief, Abdul Halik Yunus said the contributions helped ease the burden of the residents and he hoped that more corporate bodies would come forward to provide such assistance.

Yesterday, Sabah recorded 401 new positive COVID-19 cases with a cumulative positive number of 39,854 cases. -Bernama
