COVID-19: HIGH NUMBER OF RECORDED CASES IN LAHAD DATU DUE TO INCREASED SCREENING

10 DIS 2020

LAHAD DATU: The high number of COVID-19 positive cases recorded in Lahad Datu since recently has been due to expanded and targeted screening, said the district’s Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) chairman, Juraimin Jadil.

“Therefore, the district being perceived as a hotspot for COVID-19 cases in Sabah due to this is inaccurate because it shows the effectiveness of screening for the viral infection conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

"The high number of cases daily means that the targeted screening conducted by the MOH received good response from the residents with the resulting increasing awareness of the disease.”

Juraimin said this to reporters after receiving 326 food baskets from Sawit Kinabalu to be distributed to the needy, here.

Meanwhile, he reminded traders in Lahad Datu to continue complying with the standard operating procedure (SOP) at their respective premises due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

Today, Sabah recorded 274 new cases of COVID-19, including 66 in Lahad Datu. - Bernama
