KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Sabah involving two districts namely Kota Kinabalu and Penampang.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the Jalan Pahlawan cluster involves Kota Kinabalu Police Training Centre in Petagas.

Masidi explained that the index cluster for the case is a 44-year-old police trainer who tested positive on 26 August after having symptoms since 24 August.

“It was believed that the infection started from the police constable trainees, police trainers staff, and employees working in the dining halls of the training center as well as family members.

“Besides Kota Kinabalu, there are also cases related to the cluster reported in Penampang district,” he said in a statement today.

According to Masidi, the index case has been brought to PKRC Pirasan Kota Belud for further treatments.

“Out of 72 samples, 45 tested positive including 41 new cases today,” he added.
