KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Tuaran today, known as the Kg Pukak cluster.

In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the new cluster was believed to have started from a thanksgiving ceremony which was attended by close family members from the same village.

“Upon investigation, it was found that the index case is a 47-year-old man who tested positive for Covid-19 after experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, and flu.

“Therefore, screening on 55 close contacts have been conducted and 16 positive cases were detected, bringing the cumulative total of the cluster to 17,” he added.

Masidi stated that the close contact screening also involved other nearby areas, namely Kg Pinagon and Kuarters Loji Air Telibong 1.
