COVID-19: NEW 'INDUSTRI APAS' CLUSTER EMERGES IN TAWAU

KOTA KINABALU: A newly detected Covid-19 cluster, dubbed as the 'Industri Apas' cluster, was reported in Tawau today.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the cluster currently has a cumulative total of 22 positive cases, including two new cases reported today.


"The index case of this cluster was a storekeeper of a seafood factory at Mile 3 Mukim Sri Tanjung, Tawau who tested positive through a symptomatic screening on Jan 16.


"Close contact screening is still actively conducted," he said in a statement today.


Today, a total of 348 new cases were registered, bringing the cumulative total of Covid-19 infections recorded in the state to 47,139.
