KOTA KINABALU: Sabah registered a new Covid-19 cluster in Keningau today believed to be related to several social gathering activities.

The Kuala Punteh cluster recorded a cumulative total of 25 cases including seven registered today, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

"The index case tested positive for Covid-19 through a hospital pre-admittance screening in one of the medical centres in Keningau on Feb 26.

"Upon observation, it was found that the index case was infected by a family member of the same household who attended Chinese New Year dinner ceremony on Feb 11, Chap Goh Mei celebration on Feb 26, and a gathering of paddy harvesting on Feb 14," he said.

"Close contact screening activities are still actively conducted by the Keningau Health Office," he added.
