COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 110 NEW CASES, HIGHEST IN KINABATANGAN WITH 30 CASES
22 Feb 2021 By Ilona Andrew KOTA KINABALU: Kinabatangan today recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 30 cases, out of a total of 110 registered statewide new cases today. In a press conference, Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said the number of new cases which increased by 25 compared to yesterday was contributed by an active existing cluster in Kinabatangan, the Ladang Sungai Pin cluster.
Kalabakan recorded the highest number of new cases after Kinabatangan with 14 new cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu with nine cases, Penampang, Keningau and Beaufort each with seven cases, Tawau, Sandakan and Tuaran each with six cases, Telupid (four), Lahad Datu (three), and Nabawan, Putatan and Beluran each with two cases. Meanwhile, Kota Marudu, Semporna, Tenom, Kudat and Pitas each recorded one cases while no cases were recorded in Kota Belud, Papar, Ranau, Tambunan, Sipitang, Kunak, Kuala Penyu and Tongod. Today, Sabah reported a total of 110 new positive cases, including one new case recorded in Kota Marudu. One new fatality was also recorded in Kota Kinabalu.
According to Masidi, a total of 122 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the tally of statewide recoveries to 50,714. Active cases are now down to 787 where 310 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, 474 in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres, and three in temporary detention centres. However, a total of 46 patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 13 requiring ventilator support. The state's cumulative total of Covid-19 cases now stands at 52,174.
