COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 118 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 118 Covid-19 positive cases, bringing the cumulative number of the total state-wide infections to 51,115.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, two more deaths were also recorded today each one in Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu.


He said, of the total, 75 cases stemmed from close contact screening, symptomatic screening identified with 17 cases, 13 cases from new and existing clusters, and 13 from other categories.

Tawau recorded the highest number of new cases with 27 cases, followed by Putatan (16), Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan (11), Nabawan (10), Keningau and Lahad Datu (nine), Kalabakan (six), Papar and Kinabatangan (five), Penampang and Tuaran (three), Kudat (two), and Semporna one.


Meanwhile, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Kunak, Telupid, Tongod, Ranau, Sipitang, Beaufort, Pitas, Tenom, Beluran, Tambunan and Kuala Penyu did not record any new Covid-19 cases.


Masidi added that a total of 1,231 patients are still receiving treatment where 464 are treated in the hospitals, 765 in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre, and two in temporary detention centres.


"The total number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 66 and 20 are ventilated," he stated.
