COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 156 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 156 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 47 cases compared to yesterday’s 203, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 68,388.


However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said one more death related to the virus was also reported today in Tawau.


"Of the total cases, 87 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 29 were detected through cluster screening, 18 through symptomatic screening, nine through targeted screening and 13 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Tawau recorded the highest number of cases with 42 followed by Sandakan (28), Kota KInabalu (21), Kunak (13), Beaufort and Papar (eight), Tuaran (six), Penampang, Kota Belud and Kudat (five), Lahad Datu and Keningau (three), Tongod (two), Kota Marudu, Semporna, Putatan, Telupid, Pitas, Sipitang, and Nabawan (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Kinabatangan, Kalabakan, Ranau, Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,329 with 425 treated at hospitals and 892 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 71 with 18 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 270 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 66,385.
