COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 166 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 166 new Covid-19 cases, maintaining the below 200 cases trend, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 67,707.
However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths related to the virus were also reported today in Tawau.
"Of the total cases, 83 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 49 were detected through cluster screening, 19 through symptomatic screening, four through targeted screening and 11 from other categories," he said in a statement today.
Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases with 44 followed by Tawau (32), Sandakan (16), Kudat (10), Penampang (eight), Tuaran, Kota Belud, Papar, and Sipitang (seven), Beaufort (six), Nabawan (five), Lahad Datu and Kota Marudu (four), Kunak, Semporna, and Keningau (two), Kinabatangan, Tongod and Pitas (one).
Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Tambunan, Telupid, Kalabakan, Putatan, Ranau, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, and Beluran
The number of active cases now stands at 1,586 with 468 treated at hospitals and 1,116 in quarantine centres.
"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 66 with 20 requiring ventilator support," he stated.
As for recoveries, a total of 265 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 65,238.
