COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 169 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 169 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 50,543.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, of the total 103 cases stemmed from close contact screening, screening of individuals screening identified 23 cases, 29 cases from new and existing clusters, four from Socso screening and 10 from other categories.


Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of new cases with 30 cases, followed by Tawau (26), Kalabakan (22), Putatan (17), Keningau (12), Kinabatangan (nine), Lahad Datu (seven), Papar (seven), Nabawan (seven), Beluran (five), Penampang (five), Tuaran (five), Tenom (four), Semporna (four), Kudat (three), and Kota Marudu (two).

Sandakan, Ranau, Sipitang and Kuala Penyu only recorded one new case each, while Kunak, Kota Belud, Beaufort, Tambunan, Pitas, Telupid, and Tongod did not report any new case.


"A total of 264 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 48,403," he said during a press conference here, today.


Masidi added that a total of 1,491 patients are still receiving treatment where 568 are treated in the hospitals, 921 in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre, and two in temporary detention centres.

"The total number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 79 and 22 are ventilated," he stated.


Unfortunately, one new cluster (Batu 38 cluster) in Kalabakan, and three deaths (two in Kota Kinabalu and one in Lahad Datu) were also reported today.
