COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 189 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah daily Covid-19 caseload remains below 200 today with a total of 189 cases registered, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 68,577.


However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the number today shows an increase of 33 cases compared to yesterday’s 156.


"Of the total cases, 99 cases were detected through close contact screening, 58 from targeted screening, 17 through symptomatic screening, nine were detected through cluster screening and six from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kudat recorded the highest number of cases with 56 cases followed by Kota Kinabalu (29), Kota Marudu (21), Tawau and Kota Belud (20), Putatan (six), Sandakan, Beaufort, Penampang and LAhad Datu (five), Kunak and Tuaran (four), Ranau (three), Papar, Keningau, Semporna, Pitas, Kinabatangan, and Kalabakan (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases are Tongod, telupid, Sipitang, Nabawan, Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,367 with 449 treated at hospitals and 919 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 69 with 17 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 145 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 66,530.
