COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 228 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 228 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 72 cases compared to yesterday’s 251, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 70,457.


In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total cases, 77 cases were detected through targeted screening, while 76 were from cluster screening, 55 from close contact screening, 37 through symptomatic screening and six from other categories.


“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases with 82 followed by Beaufort (34), Kudat (28), Tongod (19), Tawau (15), Pitas (11), Kota Marudu (nine), Putatan and Sipitang (eight), Penampang and Sandakan (seven), Tuaran (six), Papar and Keningau (five), Kuala Penyu and Lahad Datu (two), Kota Belud, Kinabatangan and Semporna (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Kunak, Nabawan, Kalabakan, Tambunan, Ranau, Tenom, Telupid, and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,941 with 381 treated at hospitals, 1,452 in quarantine centres, and 108 in detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 48 with 15 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 137 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 69,106.
