COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 229 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 229 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infection to 61,057.


Sabah's official Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun said one death was also reported in Kota Belud.



Of the total cases, Tawau recorded the highest with 62 followed by Kota Kinabalu with 30, Penampang (25), Kunak (23), Lahad Datu (23), Keningau (21), Papar (nine), Sandakan (nine), Semporna (seven), Kalabakan (five), Kota Belud (four), Kuala Penyu (three), Putatan (three), Tuaran (two), Beaufort (two), and Sipitang (one).

"A total of 105 of the cases are close contacts while 44 were detected through symptomatic screening, 37 from existing clusters, 22 from new clusters, nine from targeted screening, and four each from ward pre-admittance screening, workplace screening, and other categories," he said in a statement today.



According to Masidi, a total of 81 patients have recovered today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 58,968.


"A total of 1,276 patients are still under treatment with 405 in hospitals, 868 in quarantine centres, and three in temporary detention centres.


"Sixty-one patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 23 of them requiring ventilator support."
