KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded a lower number of daily Covid-19 cases with 232 compared to yesterday's 350, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 64,788.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said three more deaths were also reported in Sabah, all in Tawau.
Of the total cases, 127 were detected through close contact screening, 55 through cluster screening, 25 through symptomatic screening, nine through targeted screening, and the rest from other categories.
"Eleven districts recorded a decrease in the number of cases while 10 districts recorded an increase in cases today. Six districts recorded zero cases, namely Beluran, Telupid, Kunak, Pitas, Kota Marudu and Ranau.
"A relatively significant decrease in numbers is due to the occurrence of mass cluster infections at one time which was controlled and the infection did not manage to spread to the community," said Masidi in a statement.
"However, the state is only left with one Green Zone (Covid-free district) which is Beluran," he added.
The number of active cases now stands at 1,882, with 532 patients treated in hospitals and the rest in quarantine centres.
A total of 103 patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 34 requiring ventilator support.
"A total of 274 patients have recovered from Covif-19, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 61,860."
