COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 258 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 258, an increase of 68 cases compared to yesterday’s 190, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 69,025.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total cases, 99 cases stemmed from cluster screening, while 68 were detected through close contact screening, 36 from targeted screening, 16 through symptomatic screening, and 14 from other categories

“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 71 followed by Tawau (43), Kudat (36), Keningau (23), Kota Belud (19), Sandakan and Kinabatangan (11), Beaufort and Semporna (seven), Lahad Datu (six), Kalabakan and Penampang (five), Kota Marudu and Papar (three), Putatan, Kuala Penyu, and Tambunan (two), Pitas and Tenom (one).

“Districts that did not record any cases today are Tuaran, Kunak, Tongod, Nabawan, Ranau, Telupid, Sipitang and Beluran," he said in a statement today.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,539 with 440 treated at hospitals, 983 in quarantine centres and 116 in detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 67 with 18 requiring ventilator support," he stated.

As for recoveries, a total of 169 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 66,850.
