COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 33 NEW CASES, 79 RECOVERIES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 33 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,107.
In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 19 of the cases were close contacts to individuals who contracted the virus, four stemmed from symptomatic screening, six from existing cluster, and seven from other categories.
Keningau recorded the highest number of new cases with eight, followed by Kalabakan (six), Tambunan (five), Kota Kinabalu (four), Tawau, Nabawan and Sandakan each with three cases, and Tenom (one).
A total of 19 districts did not record new cases, namely Sipitang, Kota Belud, Kudat, Kunak, Penampang, Putatan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu, Tuaran, Papar, Beaufort, Telupid, Beluran, Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, and Tongod.
"A total of 79 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 53,272 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah.
"However, 366 patients are still receiving treatment with 148 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi.
He added that 21 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including five requiring ventilator support.
