COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 370 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 370, an increase of 84 cases compared to yesterday’s 286, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 72,506.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also recorded today with one each in Keningau and Semporna.
He added of the total cases today, 148 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 115 were detected through cluster screening, 50 from other categories, 36 through targeted screening, and 21 from symptomatic screening.
“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 113 followed by Tawau (55), Kudat, and Penampang (29), Sipitang and Kota Belud (23), Sandakan (21), Beaufort (15), Papar and Putatan (11), Tuaran (10), Keningau and Pitas (nine), Kinabatangan (four), Ranau, Semporna, and Telupid (two), Kota Marudu and Kuala Penyu (one).
“Districts that did not record any cases today are Lahad Datu, Beluran, Kalabakan, Nabawan, tongod, Kunak, Tambunan and Tenom," he said in a statement today.
The number of active cases now stands at 2,226 with 417 treated at hospitals, 1,709 in quarantine centres and 100 in detention centres.
"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 53 with 12 requiring ventilator support," he stated.
As for recoveries, a total of 230 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 70,413.
