COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 393 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Health Department today registered a total of 393 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of infections in the state to 43,644.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said, of the total 222 cases stemmed from close contact screening, while 74 cases were from symptomatic screening, 36 from existing cluster screening, 21 from estate screening (SOCSO), eight cases involved dorm students and 32 cases from other categories.
He said, Kota Kinabalu district recorded the highest number of cases with 72 , followed by Lahad Datu (65), Tawau (28), Penampang (27), Tuaran (26), Kinabatangan (25), Keningau (18), Kota Marudu (17), Sandakan (16), Papar (15), Semporna (15), Kunak (11) and Putatan (11).
Kota Belud and Tambunan each had eight cases, while Kalabakan and Ranau each had seven cases, Beaufort (six), Nabawan (four), Tongod and Pitas each had two cases, as well as Sipitang, Tenom and Beluran each with one case.
"Kudat, Kuala Penyu and Telupid districts did not record any cases," he said in a press statement, here, today.
Masidi said a total of 337 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the hospital, bringing the cumulative total to 39,326 people.
A total of 2,949 patients are receiving treatment, of which 766 are in the hospital and 2,185 are in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres.
"The number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 84, including 21 of them requiring respiratory aids," he said.
