COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 53 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

14 May 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Sabah records 53 new Covid-19 cases today, maintaining its two-digit number trend, bringing the cumulative total to 59,202. Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two deaths were also reported in Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu respectively.

“Out of the total, 25 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 17 cases were from new and existing clusters, five cases from symptomatic screening and the rest from other categories. "Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases today at 15 cases, followed by Kalabakan (12), Tawau (nine), Penampang (six), Kinabatangan and Putatan (three), Lahad Datu and Tuaran (two), and one cases in Papar. "Other districts that did not record new cases today were Kunak, Semporna, Sandakan, Ranau, Beaufort, Kota Belud, Keningau, Beluran, Telupid, Tongod, Kudat, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Tenom, Nabawan, and Tambunan Telupid, Tongod, Kudat, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, Nabawan and Tambunan," he said in a statement, today.

Meanwhile, only nine patients had recovered today, bringing the cumulative total to 58,607 people. "Currently, the number of active cases now stands at 572 with 234 people receiving treatment at the hospital and 293 people in the quarantine and low-risk-treatment centres. "The number of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 37 with 20 of them needing ventilator support," he said.
