COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 71 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS


8 Mar 2021 By Ilona Andrew KOTA KINABALU: A total of 71 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sabah today, bringing the tally of statewide infections to 53,557. Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, two more deaths were also reported in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau.

"A total of 34 of the total new cases stemmed from close contact screening, while 26 from existing clusters, three from asymptomatic screening and eight from other categories," he said in a statement today. Nabawan recorded the highest number of cases with 19, followed by Kota Kinabalu with 10, Penampang and Putatan each with seven, Keningau (six), Ranau (five), Kalabakan and Kudat (four), Tawau and Kota Belud (two), Sandakan, Tenom, Beluran, Kunak and Pitas (one). A total of 12 districts did not record any new case today, namely Kota Marudu, Papar, Lahad Datu, Telupid, Kinabatangan, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, Sipitang, Tuaran, Tambunan, Beaufort and Tongod. "A total of 129 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 52,290. "A total of 549 patients are still receiving treatment with 220 in the hospitals, 372 in Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres, and two in temporary detention centres. "Twenty-five patients are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including 11 requiring ventilator support," Masidi stated.
