COVID-19: SABAH'S TOTAL CASES SURPASS 50,000

KOTA KINABALU: The cumulative total of Covid-19 cases now stands at 50,214 with 233 new cases reported today.


Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said, three more fatalities were also recorded today, each in Tuaran, Tawau and Kalabakan.


Tawau registered the highest number of new cases at 41, followed by Kinabatangan (36), Keningau (27), Kota Kinabalu (23), Papar (12), Lahad Datu (11), Putatan (11), Kalabakan (11), and Penampang (10).

Districts that recorded single-digit new cases involve Sipitang (eight cases), Tuaran (seven cases), Kunak (six cases), Kota Belud (six cases), Sandakan (five cases), Kota Marudu (four cases), Beaufort (three cases), Ranau (three cases), Kudat (three cases), Kuala Penyu (two cases), Tambunan (one case), Beluran (one case), Pitas (one case), and Nabawan (one case).


Semporna, Telupid, Tenom and Tongod did not register any case today.


The minister said, a total of 288 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the tally of recoveries in the state to 47,578.


There are a total of 1,745 individuals who are currently under treatment with 711 of them in the hospitals, 1,027 at the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres, and seven at the temporary detention centre.


"Eighty-one patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 25 requiring ventilator support," he said.

A new cluster was also recorded in Tawau, known as the 'Jalan Chester' cluster which has a cumulative total of 10 cases.
