COVID-19 SCREENING COMPULSORY FOR SPM, STPM HOSTEL STUDENTS ONLY - MASIDI

KOTA KINABALU: Only Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students who are residing in school hostels are compulsory to undergo the Covid-19 screening, said Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.

He said this is in accordance with the circular letter issued by the State Health Department on Jan 12.

"Following the recommendation to screen all students before school reopens, currently the inspection capacity of the Sabah Health Department could not cover the total number of students (in Sabah)," he said in a press conference today.

According to Masidi, another better approach is needed to ensure that Covid-19 transmission among students can be minimised when school reopens later.

He said, at the same time parents are advised to look out for Covid-19 symptoms on their schoolchildren and seek medical treatment immediately at any health clinic should they showcase any.
