KOTA KINABALU: A new workplace cluster has been detected in Kinabatangan today known as the Sungai Bendera cluster.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the new cluster was first detected through a grocery store worker in a palm oil plantation.

“The index case is a 42-year-old male grocery store who tested positive on Sept 10 after experiencing symptoms. He was then brought to Kinabatangan Hospital for further treatments,” said Masidi in a statement today.

He added that further investigation found another 71 individuals testing positive involving the index case’s social contacts, workers and dependents.

“Out of 416 individuals screened, a total of 72 people tested positive including the index case himself,” he stated.
