Donation of wheelchair helps the elderly

KOTA KINABALU: Old age can be debilitating for many individuals, and in some cases, mobility loss can occur, particularly when they reach the advanced age of 90.

For 92-year-old Sounggit Gumpok of Kg Kakahangan Timpluom Bagabon, it is no different, and being mobile is very difficult, especially when they have to send her for her check-ups in the clinic.

Recently however the Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick presented a wheelchair to Sounggit Gumpok. He was represented by Datuk Phillip Lasimbang the Chairman of Yayasan Bank Rakyat. He was accompanied by Bryan Matasing from the Parliamentary Service Centre.

The family thanked Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative for his generosity.

Theresh Sibines Ginijol, 85, from Kg Koidupan Sugud, Penampang also received a wheelchair from Ewon, represented by Phillip.

She will be able to move around with the wheelchair, according her a certain freedom to move around in the house.

The family was grateful for the donations.
