EMCO IN KAMPUNG KERAMAT, SEMPORNA MAY 11-24

KOTA KINABALU: Kampung Keramat, Semporna will undergo 14 days of enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting May 11.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 10 out of 101 individuals in the locality who have undergone screening tested positive for Covid-19.

"It was reported that the number of cases has significantly increased with low compliance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) among the residents.

"After a joint risk assessment with various agencies in the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Health Ministry, the state government has agreed to implement EMCO in the locality.

"It is also so that early detection can be done while curbing the spread of the disease among community outside of the said localities,” he said in a statement.
