PENAMPANG: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick has engaged with the villagers in Penampang to listen to their problems and needs today.

Ewon who is also the Penampang MP said, this is one of his ongoing commitments as the people's representative and to ensure that the needs of the grassroots are taken care of immediately.

"Today I spent time visiting the residents of Kampung Koidupan Tinduuzon Sugud to listen to their needs and problems.

"One of the issues raised by the villagers during the last election campaign was the need to change the status of the village area from pasture land to village land.

"Apart from that, they also requested that the 1.5 kilometre-long Koidupan Sugud road to be upgraded and the Ambrose Dumpongol City Hall repaired in Tinduzon Sugud Village," he said.

Ewon also attended a wedding of former Kibunut Village Chief Linus Lansama’s son at the Penampang Cultural Centre.

Apart from that, he also went to a programme by PACOS in Kg. Kivatu before inspecting the damage of several village roads and landslides in Kg. Tomui Kimoligan Inobong, Sacred Heart Church Inobong and Kg. Liput Gantung Kimoligan.

During the State Legislative Assembly meeting earlier this month, Ewon who is also Kadamaian State Assemblyman submitted an application from the residents of Kg Koidupan Tinduzoon Sugut regarding the conversion of pasture land status to village land.

He suggested that pasture reserves that are no longer needed be converted to village land reserves.

"This is a request from the villagers who have pasture reserves but are no longer being used. There is a request from the villagers where part of their village has been reserved for pasture land but there are no villagers who work with livestock anymore.

"Then it is better that the pasture reserve be used as a village land reserve because the population is increasing and there is a need to build new houses," he said.

Kg Koidupan Tinduuzon Sugud Penampang has more than 40 houses with a population of more than 200 people.
