EWON SLAMS KHAIRUDDIN'S STATEMENT ON REDELINEATION OF ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES TO PROFIT MALAY MUSLIMS

KOTA KINABALU: The Vice President of Sabah United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) has slammed PAS Strategy Director Datuk Dr Khairuddin Aman Razali, who called for a redelineation of electoral boundaries that can benefit the Malay Muslims.
"Malaysia is a multi-racial country, and not exclusively for Malays Muslim. This proposal is too extreme and against the spirit of Malaysian diversity.
“If this is the fight of PAS in the Federal Government today, then it is clear that Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not care about all the people as they were trying to. And this goes to show that PN only wants to profit the Malay Muslims and that the participation of others is just purely cosmetic," he said in a statement today.
“PAS's statement is very dangerous to Sabah and Sarawak. I am not sure what is the stand of PBS, STAR, PBRS and SAPP who allied their parties to PAS through Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and PN. It seems that their voices will not be able to block the influence of PAS in the current Government,” Ewon added.
Khairuddin, who is also the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities uploaded a statement stating that PAS sees the need to win the general election (GE-15) with a two-third majority so that changes of electoral boundaries that favor the Malay-Muslims could be worked out.
“Will PBS, STAR, PBRS and SAPP help PAS fulfill their wishes? And will the people of Sabah support PAS' aspirations?
“UPKO cannot support that stand because we and myself are of the opinion that the people and leadership of Sabah agreed to join the establishment of Malaysia in 1963 not to benefit one race only. It is enough that the electoral boundaries in Sabah made in 1993 changed the political landscape of Sabah to this day, ”said Ewon who is also the State Assemblyman for Kadamaian.
