FARMER AFFECTED BY PANDEMIC RECEIVES DONATION FROM UPKO KIULU

KIULU: The plight of a farmer from Kampung Tomis Lama here who was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic caught the attention of Tuaran MP Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau as well as members of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Kiulu.
Yapat Dusin, 51, have six children who are all still in primary and secondary schools as well as one child with disabilities.
Previously, he depended on agricultural produce but since the Covid-19 pandemic, he could no longer sell in tamu.
"Since the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) last year until now, I have not been able to sell agricultural produce," he told Nabalu News, here.
Yapat expressed his gratitude to Madius who is also the President of UPKO, UPKO members, as well as all individuals who have donated to him generously.
"May God repay the good deeds of everyone who have contributed generously," he who lives in a PPRT house expressed.
According to Yapat, he had only received food basket donations during the first MCO.
"During the second phase MCO now, I have yet to received any contribution from any party, except for the ones given by Datuk Madius and Upko Kiulu members," he said.
His children are currently facing difficulties in their online learning sessions since they only own one mobile phone. His two children, in Form Three and Form Five, went to SMK Tamparuli while two others went to SK Tomis.
Meanwhile, the coordinators of the welfare programme Sikinor Gunu and Nikson Dauni said the selection of recipients is based on information received from school and the details of the villagers.
"We hope this donation will ease the burden of Yapat's family," they said.
Among the items donated were kitchen necessities, clothes, two mobile phones and a wifi modem for the children's online learning purpose.
The donation was presented by Madius who wass accompanied by UPKO Kiulu members t Yapat's house yesterday.
