KOTA KINABALU: Two localities in Kota Belud, one each in Pitas, Tawau, and Penampang will be placed under a 14-day enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting this Sunday (July 4).
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said in Kota Belud the localities involved are Kampung Siasai Dundau and Kampung Pantai Emas.
"In Kampung Siasai Dundau, a total of eight Covid-19 cases were recorded after 15 individuals screened, while in Kampung Pantai Emas around 73 individuals were screened and out of the total 10 detected positive,” he said in a statement today.
In Pitas, the locality that will be placed under EMCO is Tawau Kampung Naruntung with 21 positive cases.
Meanwhile, in Tawau the locality involved is Kampung Iban Kuala Nansang with eight positive cases recorded.
“In Penampang, the locality involved is Kampung Babagon with 11 individuals tested positive,” he added.
Masidi added the decision to impose EMCO on these localities was made in order to restrict the public movement so that the virus will not spread to other communities.
