FIVE LOCALITIES IN SANDAKAN AND LAHAD DATU UNDER EMCO STARTING JUNE 4

KOTA KINABALU: Five localities will be placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting June 4 to June 17.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the localities which have a cumulative total of 28 Covid-19 cases are Lorong Taman Utama 5,6,7, and 8 in Sandakan, and Kampung Sepagaya Hulu Silam in Lahad Datu.

“Nine positive cases were recorded today from the localities in Sandakan.

“Meanwhile, 19 cases were recorded today after 35 individuals were screened at Kampung Sepagaya Hulu Silam, Lahad Datu.

“Therefore, after a joint risk assessment with various agencies in the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Health Ministry, the State Government has agreed to implement EMCO in these five localities starting June 4 until June 17," he said in a statement today.

Masidi added that the implementation of the EMCO was to facilitate the Ministry of Health (MOH) to conduct early detection of Covid-19 cases so that the infected could be isolated as soon as possible.
