KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster in Ranau known as Rapak cluster has been detected today, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah said that the new cluster is categorised as community infection.
“The index case is an 81-year-old woman who is also an owner of a rental store. She often visits a sub-index store before experiencing symptoms of cough, flu, and chest pain since Aug 22.
“On Aug 23, she tested positive and had stayed in her house before seeking treatments on the next day,” he added.
Masidi stated that 42 individuals tested positive after a series of close contacts screening were made including five new cases today.
“It was believed that the infection had stemmed from a gathering activity at a rental store in Kg Rapak,” he explained.
