KOTA KINABALU: The importance of tolerance and respect in a multicultural and multiracial society must be stressed to ensure its continuity.
Datuk Wong Thien Fook further exemplified this by distributing dates to 22 households in the Sepanggar area, recently.
He emphasised that this annual event takes place during the holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting and reflection.
Wong serves as the Sepanggar Division head for the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO).
His actions not only promote unity and understanding among different racial and cultural groups but also highlight the significance of embracing diversity in the communities.
By fostering tolerance and respect, we can create a harmonious environment where individuals from various backgrounds can coexist peacefully and thrive together, he said, adding that this has been a norm for Sabah in the long run.
His visit included Kg. Darau, Kg. Wak-Wak, Kg Gudon, Kg. Delima, Kg. Suang Parai, Kg. Kobuni and Kg. Kionsom, among others.
