Housing and Local Government Ministry lights up Christmas spirit with festive lobby display

PUTRAJAYA: In anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, the Housing and Local Government Ministry has transformed its lobby into a festive display adorned with twinkling fairy lights and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
The seasonal ornaments serve as a testament to Malaysia’s vibrant multicultural society, fostering a festive atmosphere and promoting inclusivity.
At the light-up ceremony, a choir composed of members from various ethnic groups, including indigenous representatives from Sabah and Sarawak, performed beloved Christmas carols.
Its Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasised the ministry’s unwavering commitment to recognising and appreciating all cultural and religious festivities, underscoring its role in strengthening harmony and inclusivity.
Civil servants from East Malaysia expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the ministry’s embrace of diversity and openness, which has created a welcoming environment for all, The Star reported.
He also highlighted the ministry’s ongoing dedication to celebrating all major festivals, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity among its constituents.
Since last year, the Ministry has designated its lobby to showcase Malaysia’s diverse festivals, such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, and Christmas, embodying the spirit of Malaysia True Asia and the motto of “unity in diversity.”
These events also drew foreign tourists, including visitors from the United Kingdom, who sought to experience Malaysia’s multiculturalism.
Attending the event were Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Wira M. Noor Azman, PLANMalaysia Director-General Datuk Dr Alias Rameli, National Solid Waste Management Department Director-General Datuk Dr Mohd Azhar Abd Hamid, Local Government Department Director-General Datuk Mohd Fadzli Mohd Kenali, and National Housing Department Director-General Datuk KN Jayaselan, among other Ministry officials.
